Description

• Amprolium is a synthetic coccidiostat (antiprotozoal) used for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in calves, sheep, goast and poultry (broilers, breeders and layer pullets) and other fowl.

• Amprolium is an antagonist of thiamine (vitamin B₁) and its pharmacological effect relies on competitive inhibition of thiamine uptake and the coccidia experience thiamine deficiency and starve from malnutrition.

• A Poultry amprolium is highly effective against Eimeria tenella and E. necatrix and moderately active against E. acervulina and to lesserextent E. maxima.

• Amprolium has a wide safety margin.

Indications

• To be used as prophylactic or therapeutic agent against Eimeria infections (sensitive to amprolium) in poultry, sheep, goats and cattle.

Dosage and administration

• To be used in drinking water as under:

• Poultry

  • Prevention: 0.3 g per liter of drinking water for 5-7 days.

  • Mild outbreak: 0.6 g per liter of drinking water for 5-7 days.

  • Severe outbreak: 1.2 g per liter of drinking water for 5-7 days.

• Cattle: One gram per 20-40 kg body weight for 5-7 days (@5-10 mg per kg b/wt).

• Sheep/goat: One gram per 4-5 kg body weight for 5-7 day (@50 mg per kg b/wt).

• No other source of drinking water should be available during treatment period.

• If no improvement is noted within 3 days, have the diagnosis confirmed and follow the instructions of your veterinarian.

• Always store at room temperature, (avoid extreme temperatures).

• Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children and animals.

• After each use close container securely.

• Wash hands thoroughly after use.
