Each 100gm contains Colistin Sulphate (500 MIU).
It meets USP Specifications.
Description
Colistin is an antibiotic from the polymyxin group that has bactericidal action mainly against Gram-negative bacteria.
It exerts bactericidal activity against susceptible bacterial strains by disrupting the cytoplasmic membrane, which leads to altered cell permeability and the leakage of intracellular materials.
Colistin (as sulphate) is poorly absorbed following oral administration and remains available in the digestive tract.
It is excreted exclusively through faeces.
